Kim Stanley Robinson

robinson_kim_stanleyKim Stanley Robinson, one of America’s (and the world’s) leading science fiction writers, a brilliant thinker on a wide range of topics, renowned for his high degree of scientific literacy as well as his literary elegance, is, many experts assert, the most eco-conscious and socio-politically progressive author in contemporary sci-fi. His remarkable body of work includes the renowned, groundbreaking Mars, “Three Californias” and “Science in the Capital” trilogies, as well as many “stand-alone” novels such as 2312Galileo's DreamThe Years of Rice and Salt, Shaman, Antartica, Icehenge, etc.; a slew of short stories; many essays and articles; and in 2014 he co-edited a collection of essays on the relationship between ecological science, environmentalist politics, and science fiction—Green Planets: Ecology and Science Fiction. He is also an avid backpacker, lover of California’s Sierras and an editor of some of the poet Kenneth Rexroth’s writings on that mountain range.
